julia child time cover

When I was in kindergarten in the 80s one of my favorite things to watch was Julia Child's cooking show. I've never felt the need to do the cooking myself, but from her I learned to appreciate cooking and to love all sorts of food, from fancy pants French cuisine to simple diner hamburgers.

Julia Childs died in her sleep yesterday at the ripe old age of 91. Who says butter is bad for you? I had four thick slices of bacon and some brie for lunch today in her honor. Bye, Julia, and bon appetit.

I didn't realize she was American. Some news piece I read said she was an American citizen. I always thought she was British. Very confusing.

That made me hungry...

Dear, dear Julia. I luv her. And, Jacques Pepin. Too bad I can't cook. But I do luv cooking shows.

i must say i think this is the longest time you've gone without posting.

I always thought she was British.

Many Americans of a certain age, social status and level of education have what most of us wouldn't recognize as American accents. It's especially obvious if you watch black & white movies or news reels, many famous Americans don't sound American at all to our ears today.

Julia is so cool. So is beerconsumer. Is he single?

I remember being amazed at the depth and breath of her show back in the 70s. She will be missed.
